I completed my first marathon today and thus kept one of my New Year’s resolutions. I must say it was pretty hard - at least harder than expected. I actually had two goals when initially signing up - I weren’t allowed to stop and walk for the entire marathon and I must complete within four hours. None of these goals were completed.
I was totally busted between 27 km and 33 km and could run only 200-300 metres before my legs cramped - it was a nightmare. Around the 33 km mark I stopped and made a thorough stretch, ate an energy gel and sipped some water. Then I started to run again and was feeling pretty good without legproblems - great. However too much time had elapsed and I completed after around four hours and thirty minutes .. not my initial goal but there’s always room for improvements. My last couple of meters before the goal were great, though
